Longtail weasels are brown in the summer and white in the winter, when they are called ermine. Weasels are aggressive hunters, primarily pursuing small rodents. Hopping along quickly on the surface of the snow, using his beautiful blacktipped tail for balance, this weasel skittered around, looking and sniffing for lunch. This hyperactivity makes ermine difficult to find. They usually burrow into the snow and hunt the rodent tunnels along the ground, out of sight with only brief forays on the surface.
