At seven months old this pronghorn antelope is completely independent of her mother, but like most other ungulates, she will stay with a herd for her entire life. The security of pronghorn depends on their ability to run very fast for long distances.  Deep snow is deadly, not only does it cover up their food, but it prevents them from running away from predators.
