Sharp-shinned hawks are members of a genus called accipiters which are long-tailed hawks with short, round tipped wings. Sharp-shinneds are agile flyers, traveling with several quick wing beats, then a glide, and are found mostly in wooded areas. They primarily eat other birds but also eat insects and small mammals.
