Description
Pine trees are lucky to find a place to grow in this talus slope near Madison Junction. The large, angular boulders are creeping downslope making soil formation difficult. The thin trunks and short, brushy tree branches indicate how marginal their hold is on life. The coarse texture of the gray boulders, some as big as cars, is a striking contrast to the sharp thin trees.
