Description
Aspen is naturally a forest forming tree which usually creates dense practically pure stands with many trees coming from one common root system. The bark is smooth, grayish white or pale green, and commonly covered with a white powder. The black round and diamond shapes scattered up the trucks are scars from old small branches. Browsing animals or claw marks from bears climbing in the trees will leave distinctive black scars, too. Location: Yellowstone Park WY.
