Description
The Yellowstone River tumbles and surges down the canyon below the surrounding fractured towers and blocks of rhyolite. The unstable, colorful walls are inaccessible barriers to every large creature here except birds. Osprey nest here in the summer, but the winter here in the canyon is silent except for the roar and echoes of the water and the occasional rumbles and snaps of falling rock.
