Description
Moose are not commonly seen in the open expanse of the Lamar valley in wintertime. This cow was traveling east toward Soda Butte heading for her normal winter habitat, heavy timber, where she would browse on spruce and willow buds. When she approached this large, old cottonwood tree, she.stopped and stretched her neck high to nibble on the few small branches that the elk had missed.
