Description
Sunsets are hard to predict. Dramatic light seems to occur only when a number of things come together at the time the sun is at or near the horizon. To make an interesting sunset photograph there almost always has to be a dramatically lit cloudscape. Light bouncing off objects on the land and/or water can make the composition even more beautiful. The gold light beam reaching toward me on the surface of Yellowstone Lake creates a strong sense of depth and space. The dark cloud above the sun creates a ceiling which helps push the gold sun back to the distant western shore of the lake.
